The Pete Nance Boys & Girls Club of North Central Georgia recently hosted a memorable celebration in honor of America’s 250th birthday, bringing together youth, staff, families, and community leaders for an afternoon dedicated to patriotism, service, leadership, and unity.
The event began with the Presentation of the Colors and the Pledge of Allegiance led by Club Director Stacy McClendon, setting a respectful and patriotic tone for the celebration. James Kilgore offered an inspiring opening prayer, encouraging everyone to reflect on the blessings of freedom and the responsibility each generation has to preserve it.
The powerful video presentation moved guests, You Can’t Spell Hero Without Her, by Coffey Anderson,
honoring the courage and sacrifice of America’s heroes.
The program continued as Annette Westcott warmly introduced special guest speaker Orian Motley, whose heartfelt message inspired both youth and adults to embrace leadership, service, and the values that have strengthened the nation for 250 years.
Following the keynote address, Westcott presented Motley with a token of appreciation in recognition of her outstanding contribution to the celebration. The audience then viewed a stirring presentation of the Declaration of Independence, narrated by Morgan Freeman, reminding everyone of the enduring principles upon which our nation was founded.
One of the most meaningful moments of the afternoon was the presentation of the Challenge Coin by Westcott, symbolizing honor, commitment, and excellence. Club members then proudly recited “ The Promise,” demonstrating the values of respect, responsibility, and character that are cultivated every day at the Pete Nance Boys & Girls Club.
The celebration concluded with words of gratitude from Westcott before guests enjoyed refreshments and toured the Club, experiencing firsthand the outstanding programs and opportunities available to local youth.
The event was made truly special by the participation of club members. Their enthusiasm, respect, and pride in their country were on full display throughout the celebration. From their attentive participation to their confident presentation of “The Promise,” the youth represented the very best of the next generation of leaders.
The staff of the Pete Nance Boys & Girls Club of North Central Georgia also played an exceptional role in making the event a tremendous success. Their careful planning, attention to detail, and commitment to creating a meaningful experience ensured that every guest felt welcomed and inspired. Their teamwork reflected the Club’s mission of providing a safe, positive environment where young people can learn, grow, and become productive, caring citizens.
“As we celebrate 250 years of America’s history, we are reminded that our greatest investment is in the young people who will shape the next 250 years,” McClendon said. “Watching our club members proudly honor our nation’s heritage while demonstrating leadership, respect, and character gives us great hope for the future. I am incredibly proud of our youth, our dedicated staff, and every community partner who helped make this celebration such an unforgettable experience.”
