NHN adds Foos to Board of Directors

Neighbors Helping Neighbors, Inc., a 501(c)3 nonprofit serving Greene and Putnam counties, has announced the addition of John Foos to its board of directors and to the position of vice president of finance.

“We are excited about the addition of this community leader to our already strong and committed board,” Neighbors Helping Neighbors President Bob Massey said. “John will continue to help position us to provide a ‘hand up, not a handout’ to more people who need support in Lake Country.”

Foos previously served as chairman of Good Samaritan Hospital and as chief financial officer of Independence Blue Cross, and is a retired Partner of Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Co. (now KPMG). A certified public accountant, he continues to serve on the Blue Cross Blue Shield of South Carolina board and on its Audit and Compliance Committee and Executive Committee.

Foos also serves on the board of directors of HutsonWood Inc., an owner/operator of skilled nursing facilities, specialty children’s health facilities, and affordable housing communities. Previously, he served on the boards of the Alleghany Corporation, a New York Stock Exchange company with primary operations in international insurance and reinsurance, and HAI Group, a property/casualty insurer for public housing and affordable housing organizations.

A resident of Greensboro, Foos earned his Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Susquehanna University.

NHN serves more than 6,000 residents in Greene and Putnam counties who live below the poverty level by making critical home repairs, finding reliable transportation for families, and providing beds for children who don’t have one of their own.
