MAGallery presents unique silk art exhibit

MORGAN COUNTY

MAGallery is presenting a special solo exhibition, “Nature Mirrored in Silk,” featuring the intricate work of Athens-based artist Margaret Agner.

The exhibition will be open from March 13 to April 18, featuring the intersection of fine art and fiber design.

Having experimented with fiber-reactive dyes and the “shaped edge” technique for more than 20 years, Agner creates pieces that challenge her viewers’ perception. She compiles imagery of insects and other creatures to create deliberate, symmetrical effects, often revealing hidden “faces” and forms within the silk.

In this installation, Agner presents a series of hand-painted silk wall hangings that explore nature through mirror-image designs. Her work ranges from purely naturalistic to complex, abstract compilations.

The public is invited to an opening reception on March 13 from 6-8 p.m., sponsored by William and Debi Lamb, and featuring catering by Harvest & Honey and live music by Terry & Jami Brailey.
