The Lake Oconee Academy (LOA) Chorus sang the national anthem before tipoff on Jan. 13 at the UGA vs. Tennessee men’s basketball game in Athens.
The LOA Chorus consists of seventh-and eighth-grade students, including many in the school’s choral program for two years.
Under the direction of Cathy Williamson and Amy Reber, the students performed an acapella version of the anthem in front of a sold-out crowd of 10,523 fans at Stegeman Coliseum.
“This was an incredible opportunity for our students and an experience they will remember for a lifetime,” Williamson said. “We are so grateful to the University of Georgia for extending the invitation to perform.”
Students and their families were invited to stay for the game afterward to cheer on the Bulldogs, who unfortunately fell 85-79 to the Volunteers.
