PUTNAM COUNTY
The Putnam Christian Outreach (PCO) BackPack Ministry received overwhelming support from LakePoint Community Church and Eatonton’s Bluestem Distribution Center from October through December last year.
PCO called these contributions its “lifeline,” enabling it to fill the food backpacks of Putnam County Elementary and PC Middle School students identified with food assistance needs.
Supplementing the LakePoint donations, several of the church’s smaller groups provided additional BackPack-specific food donations, along with committing to volunteer one Tuesday morning or afternoon a month to physically pack the food into PCO BackPacks for delivery to the schools.
In addition to providing several charitable services, including a food bank, vision screening, and medical, housing, among other types of client aid, PCO (151 Industrial Blvd., Eatonton) provides a well-stocked thrift store open to the public.
All local churches, clubs, service organizations, sports teams, or individuals who would like to donate to the PCO BackPack Ministry or otherwise support PCO are encouraged to call 478-485-4066 for more information.
