Grace Fellowship’s inaugural Kickin’ for the Kingdom was a success thanks to the support of local businesses and generous individuals.
The event raised more than $21,000 to support missions to Zambia, the Dominican Republic, and Sevierville, Tenn.
Six teams came together Sept. 6 at the Greene County Recreation Department for a day of friendly competition, laughter, and community spirit. From diving catches to home-run kicks, every player brought the energy.
The winners of the event were The Harris Build Co. in first place and The Junction Agency in second place. The Grace Youth won the award for the most funds raised, with more than $2,000 collected after securing matching donors and hosting a bake sale.
“What impressed me about our youth is their commitment to the event,” said youth leader Jarvis Freeman. “They could’ve been doing anything else on their Saturday. Instead, they gave it 100%. Not for a prize or for recognition; they came out to support the missions and each other.”
Thanks to the enthusiasm of participants, donations, and sponsorships, a scholarship fund for mission volunteers is being created. In addition, the church will donate $800–$1,000 to each of the three partner organizations once online gifts are tallied.
Grace Fellowship thanks its sponsors: Oconee Elite, Grand Slam, Greensboro Tire, Spray Foam Systems, Jimmy Britt Chevrolet, Wilhoit Gas, Johnny Yearwoods, Covenant Park Church, Smith Communications, Lake Oconee Eyecare, KC Pottery, Peek Landscaping, Shop the Garden, Fusion Church of Madison, and Standridge.
Also, thanks to T-shirt sponsors The Junction Agency, Jeremy’s Wing Shack, New Finish Carpet Cleaning, Greensboro Cosmetic & Family Dentistry, and The Harris Build Company.
The church also extends its gratitude to individual donors, volunteers, team captains, referees, food vendors, and everyone who played a part in making the day unforgettable. Whether contributing $5 or $5,000, showing up to cheer, or helping set up the field, the volunteers were part of something meaningful.
Grace Fellowship plans to send 45 to 60 individuals out to help where needed with Global Samaritan, Big Hope, and Wears Valley Ranch.
The church is also looking forward to next September’s event. The goal is to add one local organization to this event and to raise $75,000.
“From the bottom of our hearts — thank you,” Freeman said. “We kicked it together, and we made a difference. Here’s to community, kindness, and the power of coming together for missions.”
