Harbor Club celebrates 4th of July

Harbor Club’s annual July 4 celebrations began Friday with the raising of the flag ceremony in front of the Clubhouse by Greene County Sheriff Donnie Harrison and firefighter Bob Welsh.

With the flag flying proudly, a record number of festively decorated golf carts lined up behind the Walker Church Fire Department in readiness for the patriotic golf cart parade.

With sirens piercing the morning, the fire truck got moving, horns blared, and the parade began to loud cheers from residents and spectators lining the roadway or following along on foot. As the parade of carts cruised through the neighborhood, presenting a wonderful and fun display of community pride and patriotic flair, children squealed in delight, and the applause and laughter were contagious.

Following the parade, the Harbor Club Pool party commenced with great tunes from DJ Dean, while hamburgers and hot dogs from the grill, along with cold beverages, awaited the hungry and thirsty.

This year’s event marked Harbor Club’s 15th and featured the largest number of attendees and carts yet to celebrate Independence Day there.
