Georgia Writers Museum has announced the book launch of local writer Tara Rocker’s new book, My Sweet Home Georgia Cookbook.
The book launch drop-in party will be held at the museum on Thursday, Nov. 30, from 5-7 p.m., with light hors d’oeuvres served. The author also will be available to sign purchased copies of her new book.
My Sweet Home Georgia Cookbook is not just a collection of recipes, but a glimpse into Rocker’s life here in Eatonton and the rich culinary traditions of Georgia and the American South. If you’re a fan of Georgia and its food, this memoir is a must-read.
Plus, it is chock full of delicious recipes. Rocker’s prose is laced with anecdotes about her family and friends, and how food brought them together over the years. She even delves into how a season of depression led her to create this special book.
She describes her move to Eatonton and how she came to love the town and its people through the lens of its food.
Rocker grew up in Savannah, attended Savannah Day School, and completed a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Georgia with a major in international business and a minor in French.
She served as director of marketing for Tidewater Landscape Management before moving to Eatonton. She has a son and two daughters, loves to plan parties, and is married to Walt Rocker III.
