Georgia Writers Museum, in collaboration with its junior board — comprised of Putnam County High School Service Leadership students — will present “Framing Futures: Chris Greer and PCCSS Showcase Natural Georgia” on March 4 at Georgia Writers Museum (GWM).
This promises to be an evening of inspiration, creativity, and community engagement. Attendees will enjoy the unique opportunity to meet Emmy-nominated photographer and filmmaker Greer, whose work has been frequently showcased on Georgia PBS.
Georgia College professor Greer is also an award-winning photographer, author, and television producer. He wrote and photographed the bestselling book Georgia Discovered: Exploring the Best of the Peach State and photographed Naturally Georgia: From the Mountains to the Coast, a glossy, coffee-table publication. Greer’s work has been featured in galleries, exhibitions, magazines, and various online media. He lives in Athens with his wife and two young boys.
In an intimate setting at GWM, Greer will engage with the audience, discussing his artistic journey and offering insights into his creative process. Guests will also be able to purchase copies of his books, which he will sign upon request after his presentation.
The unveiling of a new GWM gallery exhibition featuring nearly 20 of Greer’s breathtaking photographs of Georgia’s natural landscapes will also be a highlight of the evening. These images will be paired with student-created works, each inspired by Greer’s photography. The exhibition will remain on display throughout March.
To further support student artists, all student-created pieces will be available through a silent auction running March 4-10, with all proceeds to help fund future artistic and leadership opportunities for local students.
PCHS students interested in participating must register and submit their artwork by Feb. 25. Submissions must be no larger than 6X6 feet. School officials must also approve all submissions for appropriateness before they can be auctioned.
Additionally, Greer will visit PCHS during the day on March 4 to engage directly with students, sharing his expertise and inspiring young creatives.
Students interested in registering to participate in the gallery and silent auction should contact PCHS teacher Rebekah Esau at rebekah.esau@putnam.k12.ga.us.
Greer’s presentation will begin at 7 p.m. on March 4, with doors opening half an hour earlier. Tickets are $40 each for the general public ($35 each for two or more). Junior board members and student artists (plus one guest each) receive free admission (a promo code will be provided), while Friends & Family discount tickets are $20 each if using a provided promo code.
This event provides a unique opportunity to celebrate Georgia's beauty through the lens of a master photographer and the creative talents of local students.
Secure tickets now and be part of an unforgettable art, storytelling, and community evening. For more information or to purchase tickets and pre-order Greer’s books, visit online at georgiawritersmuseum.org.
