Greene County Pro Rodeo returns next week

GREENE COUNTY

Excitement is in the air! It’s that time of year when Bubba Oubre Rodeo Company will be rolling into town to provide two nights of rodeo action at its best.

Oubre is partnering with the Greene County Livestock Association and Greene County 4-H to make the 26th annual Greene County Pro Rodeo possible.

Where is this action-packed night? Follow the signs to the Greene County Ag Center at 1180 C Weldon Smith Dr. in Greensboro. On Friday, April 25, and Saturday, April 26, the gates will open at 6 p.m. with rodeo action beginning at 8 p.m. with the Grand Entry. Admission is free for children under 4, $10 for children aged 5-12, and $20 for adults aged 13 and older.

Be sure to bring your whole family to witness championship bull riding, barrel racing, the saddle bronc and bareback events, steer wrestling, and calf, team, and breakaway roping.

No rodeo is complete without the rodeo clown, and this year, Greene County welcomes back TJ Williams.

The fun-filled evening also includes free contests for children. Let your youngest, ages 2-3, come out into the arena to ride in the stick horse race, which will be followed by ages 4-5 trying to outpace each other without getting bucked off the stick horse. Then, there is the Boot Race for the older youth, ages 6-10, who race against each other to get their boots or shoes back on and cross the finish line before anyone else.

Come hungry! There will be plenty of food at the various concession stands, including hot dogs, hamburgers, French fries, corn on the cob, Mexican fare, boiled peanuts, shaved ice, funnel cakes, and so much more. As always, there’s the Cowboy Corner, where people love to get Western attire.

What a night to look forward to! Not only will you absorb a piece of Western life, but also have a lot of laughter and conversation with neighbors and friends.

To make it even better, you will go home knowing that you just took your family out for a night of fun where a portion of the money spent will be used to help in the fight against cancer and cystic fibrosis and support youth in Greene County 4-H, Greene County FFA, Camp Twin Lakes, and two youth rodeos a summer.

“We would like to say a big ‘Thank You’ to our rodeo’s sponsors: Greene County Livestock Association, Greene County 4-H, Lake Country Legends 94.7, Smith Farm Supply, Visit Lake Oconee, Godfrey’s Feed, Lowry’s Feed & Farm, AgPro, John Deere, Higdon Electric, KDI/Keeoco Development Inc., The Farmer’s Bank, BankSouth, Jimmy Britt, T & T Stone, and Pennington Lawn and Garden,” rodeo organizers said.

“We are also very grateful to each business that is sponsoring a chute gate or an event, and to each business that bought an ad,” organizers added. “You will find the business ads in our beautiful rodeo program. Whether the sky is stormy or full of beautiful stars, come ready to have a carefree evening full of fun at the Greene County Ag Center’s covered arena in Greensboro. See you there on April 25 and 26!”
