Greene County hosts 2025 Homecoming festivities

Greene County High School celebrated Homecoming Week Oct. 13-17 with multiple festivities, including the annual parade, dress-up days, and painting the senior rock.

The school presented its 2025 Homecoming Court Oct. 17 during halftime of the Tigers’ regional matchup with Washington-Wilkes.

This year’s homecoming lineup featured 14 students, with two representatives from each class: freshman, sophomore, and junior. The senior class included eight representatives who were in the running for this year’s Homecoming king and queen honors.

The parade, held just outside the high school, featured several decorated floats with students from various extracurricular organizations. Multiple Greene County High School alumni made appearances in the procession, including graduates from the classes of the late 1980s and early 90s.

Greene County Seniors Felicity Thomas and Jailen Ruff were crowned as this year’s Homecoming king and queen.

Thomas is an active member of the school’s flag football team and dances with the marching band, both of which she has participated in for most of her high school career. Since completing the Certified Nursing Assistant program at Greene County, she has worked as a CNA. She plans to attend Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, hoping to become a Registered Nurse.

Ruff is an active member of both the football and basketball teams and, outside of school, runs his personal clothing brand, “YNK.” After graduating from Greene County, Ruff hopes to pursue a college degree in cybersecurity while continuing to expand his clothing line.
