G-P Madison supports simulator experience at MCHS

Morgan County High School recently hosted an engaging, hands-on career exploration event as the Be Pro Be Proud Georgia mobile simulator truck, sponsored by Georgia-Pacific Madison Plywood, visited campus.

More than 200 students climbed aboard the simulator to experience real-world scenarios that highlight careers in skilled trades and manufacturing.

“Thanks to our partnership with Georgia-Pacific Madison Plywood, we were able to give our students a chance to see that career paths in manufacturing and skilled trades are real and obtainable,” said Jennifer Butler, director of Morgan County Career Academy. “It’s one thing to talk about future jobs; it’s another to actually climb in and try the simulation. Our students and faculty were excited to have this opportunity on campus.”

The Be Pro Be Proud Georgia mobile workshop is a custom-built semi-trailer that transforms into an interactive learning environment.

Inside, students can explore high-tech simulators and hands-on stations that replicate real-world work in advanced manufacturing, construction, utilities, and transportation. These immersive experiences connect classroom learning to practical career opportunities available in the region.

“We know that companies like ours thrive when we have a well-trained workforce,” said Wesley Stone, plant manager of Georgia-Pacific Madison Plywood. “By providing funds to have the Be Pro Be Proud simulator at Morgan County High, we’re helping students discover that manufacturing is more than repetitive tasks — it’s technology, problem-solving, and career growth.”

Georgia-Pacific Madison Plywood has also committed funding to bring the Be Pro Be Proud Georgia simulator back to Morgan County High School in the spring of 2026.
