Adapted softball brings students together from three counties

GREENE COUNTY

Students from Greene, Clarke, and Morgan counties came together Oct. 23 for a day of teamwork, fun, and friendship at an Adapted Softball Event hosted at ESP Inc. in Watkinsville.

The event, organized and hosted by Greene County Adapted Physical Education teacher Amber Conoly, brought together more than 80 participants of all ability levels to enjoy a series of softball games designed to promote inclusion, physical activity, and community connection.

Supporting the players were over 25 student volunteers from Lake Oconee Academy and Greene County High School, who helped ensure that every participant had a great experience both on and off the field.

After the games, students gathered for a short award ceremony, followed by lunch and time on the playground, where new friendships continued to grow.

Events like this showcase the power of inclusion and the importance of community support. It’s truly inspiring to see students of all abilities come together and celebrate what they can accomplish.

This event would not have been possible without community partners, including the Reynolds Ladies Club, Robert and Karen Hirsch Jewish Communal Fund, and the Knights of Columbus of Greensboro, whose ongoing support helps make adaptive sports opportunities available to students across the region.
