Greene County High School football player RJ Monford recently received his first college scholarship offer. Last month, the University of Alabama-Birmingham (UAB) officially offered the Tigers’ linebacker and fullback.

The Greene County football team is set to take on the Putnam County War Eagles Friday at Al Reaves Field for a fall scrimmage. The two programs scrimmaged each other last season in a low-scoring, defensive affair.

Arkiyus Wright prepares for fall camp with Phoenix Greene County graduate and former Tigers’ football captain Arkiyus Wright strapped up the pads earlier this past Tuesday for the first day of Cumberland University’s fall camp. The 5-foot-10 defensive back had to stand out and compete with more than 125 other players for recognition from the coaching staff.

The Greene County High School football team has recently been on a mission to give back to its community. Two weeks ago, assistant coaches Aubrey Fortson and James Miller accompanied several Tigers’ players to visit the Boswell Parker Health & Rehabilitation nursing home in downtown Greensboro.

Greene County head wrestling coach and assistant football coach, Aubrey Fortson, is helping his players give back to the local community while summer workouts loom right around the corner.

On the first day of February, Greene County’s Arkiyus Wright signed his letter of intent to play football at Cumberland University in Lebanon, Tennessee.
