Virginia “Jinks” Jones, age 66, of Greensboro died Saturday, June 1, 2019 at her residence.

Visitation was held at McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W. Broad Street, Greensboro, on Monday, June 3, 2019, followed by a funeral service at McCommons Funeral Home Chapel at 11 a.m. with Rev. Dr. Jimmy Long officiating.

Pallbearers were Greg Higdon, Chad Odum, Daniel Higdon, Mitchell Kimbrough, Rob Kimbrough and Michael Poulnott. Honorary pallbearers were Shorty Arthur, Mike Black, Neal Higdon and Trenton Godbee. Interment was held at Walker United Methodist Church, 2730 Walker Church Road, Greensboro.

Jinks was a lifelong resident of Greene County she was born in Greensboro on June 10, 1952 and was the daughter of the late Jesse Delmar Higdon and Lucille Artie Kimbrel Higdon. She attended school in Social Circle and Greene County.

Most of her life she was a homemaker raising her children. After her husband’s death in 1989, she started her own cleaning business. Jinks attended Wesley Chapel Wesleyan Church in Greensboro. In addition to her husband, Phillip Grady Jones and parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Liz Odum and Faye Martin; and brothers, James Higdon and Robert Higdon.

Survivors include a daughter, Regina Nicole Godbee (Jason) of Madison; son, Joey Phillip Jones of Greensboro; granddaughter, Nicole Godbee; sister, Connie Poulnott Carr; brother, Leslie Higdon; and a number of other relatives.
