Most of the existing US 441 right-hand passing lanes north and south of Seven Islands Road will be eradicated for stage construction starting Tuesday, June 8. E.R. Snell Contractor is removing pavement and continuing construction progress grading in these areas.

This extra lane reduction will remain until the final stages of the US 441 widening project, spanning over eight miles from the Putnam County line to I-20, opens to drivers.

Posted speed signs are dropping to 45 mph in the work zone as well.

Small passing lane sections will still be available on either end of the aforementioned area, but overall these three-lane sections must be reduced to allow the reconstruction.

Motorists traveling through a work zone should expect the unexpected. It can make the difference between life and death. Pay attention, slow down and watch for workers. GDOT is committed to keeping workers and travelers safe.
