Richard Lewis Stewart, 67, of White Plains, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2020, at St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital in Greensboro after an extended illness.

Funeral Services were held on Sunday, March 1, 2020 at White Plains Baptist Church, 1020 Main Street East, White Plains, GA 30678. Rev. Curtiss Moore and Rev. Lee Smith officiated. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Cecil Powell, Jeffrey Smith, Robbie Chapman, Dave Steed, Mike Smith and Zippy Duvall. Honorary pallbearers were the Greene County Farm Bureau directors.

A lifelong resident of Greene County, he was born on July 12, 1952, in Greensboro. Richard was the son of Dorothy McKinley Stewart of Greensboro, and the late Milton Lewis Stewart.

He graduated from the first graduating class at Nathanael Greene Academy in 1970 and attended Middle Georgia College in Cochran. All of his life Richard was a self-employed dairyman first working with his father, Milton and then his brother, Charles.

Richard was a member of White Plains Baptist Church, past member of the Morgan County Dairy Association and a board member of the Greene County Farm Bureau. He was an avid baseball player, enjoyed his family, friends and talking with everyone. He was preceded in death by his father, Milton L. Stewart.

Richard is survived by his mother, Dorothy M. Stewart, of Greensboro; sister, Brenda S. Stone and husband Charles of Milledgeville; brother, Charles Stewart of White Plains; nephew and nieces, Chuck Stone, Elizabeth Stone, Paige Deaver and Kim Daniel; great nephews and nieces, Abigail Daniel, Reid Daniel, Wyatt Daniel and Evans Deaver; his good friend and caregiver, Jean Dolvin; and a host of other friends and relatives.
