What’s next for NASCAR at Indy?

Saturday’s Xfinity race, the first NASCAR race on Indy’s road course, raised the voices of those suggesting the Cup race should also be moved to the 14-turn layout. But the next day’s Cup race on the oval included more drama and theatrics than we’ve seen there in many years. Everything is on the table in terms of future schedules, so who’s to say they couldn’t run a Cup doubleheader on both layouts in the future? It would create logistical headaches in terms of bringing two types of cars, but maybe it’s possible.

How about Chase Briscoe?

Has three wins in his last four Xfinity starts. His five 2020 wins include Darlington and Indy’s road course, so he’s covered those unique bases. Maybe best of all, he’s with a team (Stewart-Haas) that might have a Cup seat available in 2021. If you haven’t seen the next-to-last lap of his Saturday win at Indy, do yourself a favor …
