Putnam County will celebrate its graduates with a senior parade this Friday, May 22.
At 6 p.m., the route through Eatonton and around the courthouse square — used annually for the Dairy Festival parade — will start at the elementary school located at the corner of Oak and Washington streets. It ends at the Madison Avenue-Marion Street intersection.
The Community Graduation Celebration will honor Putnam County High School and Gatewood Schools classes of 2020. Everyone is invited to bring signs, banners, pom poms, etc. to cheer on the students and celebrate their accomplishments.
In order to maintain a safe celebration, school officials and planners ask that all spectators keep a distance of six feet between families.
Students will begin lining up at 5:30 p.m. with only three people allowed per vehicle and only seniors can ride in the back of trucks. The graduates can wear their cap but not their gowns during the parade, and candy is not allowed to be thrown from the vehicles.
