Man leaves infant child in car seat and injured mother after car crash

The Morgan County Sheriff’s Office is still looking for Chadwick Taylor Armistead, who fled from a safety checkpoint on Aug. 28.

According to the MCSO, he crashed his vehicle into a ditch while trying to avoid the safety checkpoint.

Armistead’s vehicle overturned in the ditch, and he fled the scene on foot, leaving an eight-month-old infant hanging upside down in a car seat and the child’s mother with severe injuries to her face.

Armistead is a 26-year-old white male approximately 5’11” tall and 140 lbs.

He reportedly has ties to the Bostwick and Buckhead areas of Morgan County as well as the Athens area. He also has numerous felony warrants through the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office.
