The Lake Oconee Academy (LOA) Cheer Titans are proud to announce senior Ally Blythe has been named the 2021 Georgia Cheerleading Coaches Association (GCCA) Cheerleader of the Year for divisions 1A-4A.

Cheerleader of the Year selection is a multistep process. This year, there was a pool of 115 applicants nominated by coaches from across the state. That applicant pool was then narrowed down to 30 girls, who were named to the 2021 GCCA 1A-4A All-State Team and invited to compete for the title of Cheerleader of the Year at Columbus State University on Saturday, Aug. 7.

As part of her Cheerleader of the Year performance, Ally executed a two-minute routine consisting of tumbling, jumps, cheer, dance and group stunts. She was then interviewed by a panel of judges. Four members of the LOA Varsity Cheer Team – Thea Smith, Hailey Heinen, Ollie Bragg and Ella Blythe – assisted Ally in showcasing her group stunting skills that day.

“This competition was made for Ally,” says LOA Cheerleading Head Coach Jennifer Blythe. “By talking to the interviewers, filling out the application and performing solo in front of a panel of judges, she was able to show everyone her love of the sport and pay tribute to the many people and coaches who have influenced her along the way.”

As Cheerleader of the Year, Ally will receive a college scholarship. Speaking of the award, she says: “This is an amazing accomplishment because it proves that all of my hard work and dedication were worth it.”
