Morgan softball's 2019 schedule is set
The stage is set for the Morgan County softball team. Lady Dogs head coach Jason McBay recently announced this year’s schedule.
The Lady Dogs will officially kick off the 2019 season with a home game against Rockdale County on Aug. 7 at 5:30 p.m. The next day, they will travel to Jefferson – the reigning Region 8-AAA champion – for a major early-season showdown. The Lady Dragons will visit Madison on Sept. 4. Morgan will host last year’s region runner-up, Jackson County, Aug. 20, and the Lady Dogs will travel to face Jackson again Sept. 12.
In addition to the usual gambit of Region 8-AAA contests, the Lady Dogs will also play the likes of Newton, Tift County, Grovetown, North Oconee, Eagle’s Landing, Rutland, Cherokee Bluff, Westminster, Monticello and Alcovy.
Morgan will again celebrate numerous occasions during its home slate. The first special home game will be Camper Appreciation Night, scheduled for Aug. 13 during Morgan’s game versus Monroe Area. That night celebrates the young kids who attended the program’s summer camp. Members of the MCHS faculty will be celebrated during Faculty Appreciation Night, set for Aug. 27 prior to the game versus East Jackson. Sept. 10 will be Cancer Awareness Night, with Morgan taking on Hart County. Finally, senior night will be celebrated Sept. 24 following the final home regular season game against Alcovy.
The Lady Dogs enter this season hoping to build on last year, which saw them reach the Sweet 16 round of the Class AAA state playoffs.
