If you happen to drive by Greensboro Elementary School this Thursday and next Thursday, don't be alarmed if you see a large group of police cars gathered at the building.
The Greensboro Police Department is hosting active shooter trainings this Thursday, June 20, and next Thursday, June 27. The trainings will last from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.
Per a post on the Greene County School System's Facebook page, "The purpose of this training is to equip law enforcement and local safety personnel to address active shooter situations. This training will result in a heavy presence of law enforcement at the building, which may include multiple patrol vehicles and the use of a helicopter."
Expect to see several police vehicles in the area surrounding GES as local officers and others in the community learn about the dangers of active shooters and the best ways to resolve those situations.
