Glenn Edward Taylor of Greensboro died Sunday, Aug. 18, 2019, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was 70.
Funeral Services were held Tuesday, August 20, at 11 a.m. at Bethesda Baptist Church, 1560 Bethesda Church Road, Union Point, with Rev. Bruce Lovin officiating. Interment followed in Greenlawn Cemetery, Rhodes Street, Union Point. Serving as pallbearers were Tommy Swann, Joey Griffith, Josh Farmer, Doug Higdon, Tony Fowler and Ronald Swann. Honorary pallbearers were Richard Cronic, Bobby Brooks, Ed Ogletree, Jimmy Farmer, John Osborne, Franklin Combs, Jerry Lunceford, Wayne Jackson and Jimmy Walker.
A lifelong resident of Greene County, he was born on Aug. 24, 1948, in Washington to the late Simeon Edward Taylor and Etta Louise Pilcher Taylor. He graduated from Greene County High School in 1966. On June 6, 1975, he married the former Carleen Wood. For many years, he was in the logging business. Later he was co-manager of HB & Sons Salvage in Greensboro. Glenn was a member of Bethesda Baptist Church of Union Point. He was an avid fisherman and loved being with his family.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 44 years, Carleen Taylor of Greensboro; daughter, Tonya Chambliss and husband Charles of Greensboro; granddaughter, Jesslyn Chambliss; and numerous friends.
