The Greene County School System recently had the honor of celebrating our 2020 retirees in a series of small, socially distanced ceremonies at the Greene County School System district office. Usually, we honor our retirees at the district’s annual end-of-year breakfast event where all 300-plus district staff members are present to cheer them on into retirement.
However, things had to look a little different this year due to COVID-19 restrictions on the size of gatherings. Each retiree received their own intimate ceremony with just a few colleagues and guests in attendance. Each retiree received a rocking chair with a personalized nameplate, appreciation certificate signed by the superintendent and chairman of the board of education and a small cake to take home to enjoy with their families (because a reception was not possible due to COVID-19 health and safety restrictions). Additionally, each retiree’s principal/supervisor spoke briefly about their impact on their school or department and shared their favorite memories of working together.
Not all of our 2020 retirees were able to attend the ceremonies, but we would like to give them all a big shoutout and thank them for their many years of service to the Greene County School System.
To our 2020 retirees:
We wish to express our sincere thanks and gratitude for your dedication to the students of Greene County. Your wisdom and commitment to excellence have long inspired all of us and will be remembered for many years to come. We wish you good health, happiness and continued success in your retirement.
