MILNER - As the sports seasons begin to change, the Gatewood boys hoopsters got off to a good start last week with a resounding 77-31 region victory over the St. George Crusaders.

Leading the way for the Gators was Jackson Warner with 19 points, Kaden Keiser knocked down 12 points and Walker Roberts put in nine followed by Trace Segell chipping in 12 for the night.

“It was nice to have our first game after all the practice we have done since the middle of October,” said head coach Don Keiser. “I was very pleased with the team’s hustle and effort but after watching game film, I see we have a lot to work on. It was great to start the season with a big 77-31 win.”

The season will really get going next week with nine games scheduled before Dec.20.

“We had several players to come out and have a good game. I told my team before the game that we cannot look at the quality of our opponents,” Keiser said. “At this point we have to worry about what we do on the court and work on improving what we do best.”

The Gators took on Nathaneal Greene Academy Tuesday after press time.

“We just have to work on getting better for the rest of the season,” Keiser concluded.
