Madison’s signature summer festival, the Firefly Festival, kicked off Friday, July 27, with a family frolic, or kids’ night.
The annual event brings children, parents and furry friends together for an evening of fun. This year’s event featured a stilts walker, face painting, a puppet show by Piccadilly Puppets, arts and crafts, a clogging performance, inflatable slides, bubble blowing and music.
One of the event’s main sponsors, Main Street Vet, brought a variety of animals including snakes, goats, a chameleon and other furry friends for children to pet. Main Street Vet staff also held an on-stage drawing for dog treats.
Throughout the night, kids cooled off with ice cream from Antique Sweets. They also took rides through the park on the train and took home balloon creations.
Main Street Madison celebrated summer last weekend as the annual Firefly Festival returned to Town Park. The Sensational Sounds of Motown kept attendees on their feet and dancing late into the evening during Saturday’s date night event. The park was packed with people and picnics as the sun set behind the stage. When the evening faded to night, glow sticks came out and twinkling lights provided a whimsical atmosphere for guests from near and far to enjoy.
