On Saturday, July 24, 2021, Cynthia Cook Dycus, loving wife and mother, passed away at the age of 64.
Cindy was born on June 25, 1956, in Columbia, S.C., to John and Barbara Barger Cook. She obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Appalachian State University in 1978 and was a flight attendant for 22 years for U.S. Airways. On Dec. 6, 1986, she married Barry P. Dycus. They raised one daughter, Leila Dycus Scoggins.
Cindy was a kind and compassionate spirit with an infectious smile! During her time here, Cindy’s first passion was interior design and decorating. She was also an accomplished seamstress, cook and gardener. She loved nature and creating beautiful things. She used her talents and creativity to regularly bless her friends and family.
Cindy was preceded in death by her father John and her mother Barbara. She is survived by husband, Barry; daughter, Leila; sister, Tina E. Cook; brother, John S. Cook Jr.; niece, Hannah; and nephews Dillon, Landon and Christopher.
Her immediate family will celebrate Cindy at a private memorial gathering. Extended family and friends are invited to a drop-in reception on Saturday, July 31, from 1-3 p.m. at 326 North Second Street, Madison.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Tunnels to Towers (t2t.org), Cindy’s favorite non-profit ministry.
