Brent Preston Slaughter, 68, of the Greshamville Community, died Thursday, May 23, 2019, at his home.

Memorial Services were held May 25 at New Hope Baptist Church, 1400 Farmington Road, Madison, with the Rev. Mike Pritchett officiating. A reception followed at the church.

Preston was born in Madison on July 9, 1950. He was the son of late Frank Slaughter and Estelle Brown Slaughter. He was a graduate of Morgan County High School. On Jan. 20, 1975, he married the former Mary Ann Healey. Preston was the owner and operator of Custom Dairy Equipment in Madison. Early in life, he enjoyed fishing and hunting, but later he lived for competing in tractor pulls. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Greshamville. He was preceded in death by his daughters, Miranda Slaughter and Cresta Slaughter Boswell, and sister, Suzanne Slaughter Ross.

In addition to his wife of nearly 45 years, Mary Ann Healey Slaughter of the Greshamville Community, he is survived by his son, Heath Slaughter (Lisa); brothers, Frank Slaughter, Dan Slaughter, Jerry Slaughter, Sam Slaughter and David Slaughter; grandchildren, Anna Lynn, Victoria Boswell, Rob Boswell, Ashlyn Slaughter, Kaely Yearwood, Ryan Yearwood, Ethan Slaughter, Lola Slaughter; great-grandchild, Rhett Yearwood; a number of other relatives; and many friends.
