Barry Anthony Thomas passed away peacefully in his home in the Del Webb community in Greensboro, Georgia Nov. 6, 2021, at the age of 72.

Memorial services have not been scheduled at this time.

Barry was born Aug. 24, 1949, in Pittsburgh, PA to parents William and Helen Thomas. He graduated from Duquesne University where he met the love of his life, Karen Wilson. While attending Duquesne, Barry was a reservist in the National Guard and U.S. Army until 1976. Upon graduation, Barry and Karen married at Duquesne Chapel and moved to Columbus, Ohio where he worked in sales for Stanley Tools; then Rolfs Leather.

After seven years living in Columbus, they moved back to Pittsburgh until 1987. Barry was in sales in the consumer goods business having worked for Rolfs Leather, Aris Isotoner and ultimately retired as National Sales Manager for Totes Isotoner. In 1987 the family relocated to Marietta, Georgia where they lived until 2014 when they permanently moved to Lake Oconee after his retirement. Barry loved sports.

He coached his sons in soccer, baseball, basketball and shared many rounds with them on the golf course. Being from Pittsburgh, he bled black and gold and loved to watch the Steelers on Sundays. Other than his love of spending time with Karen and his family, he most enjoyed playing golf and pickleball with his friends in the MGA at The Golf Club of Cuscowilla where he was a beloved member since 2004 and club champion in 2014. He was a member of Christ Our King & Savior Catholic Church, Greensboro GA. He was preceded in death by his father William, his mother Helen, his brothers Gerald, Harmon and Donald.

Barry is survived by Karen, his loving wife of 49 years, children Kevin and Brad, grandchildren Lexi, Charlie, Briland and Sabrina, mother-in-law, Lois Wilson, brother-in-law John (Marci) Wilson and several loving nieces and nephews. One of seven siblings, Barry is survived by his brothers, William “Buck” Thomas, Martin “Tim” Thomas (Denise); sister, Mary Cambest, and sister-in-laws, Millicent Thomas, Janet Thomas, and Claire Thomas who reside in Barry’s hometown of Pittsburgh, PA.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
