The Greensboro Police Department arrested a White Plains man on several charges Feb. 18 after the agency assisted the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office in locating a missing 12-year-old female.

According to Chief Rodricus Monford, the girl was found in the company of 17-year-old Qyderious Jerome Jernigan of White Plains at a residence in Greensboro.

Further investigation into the juvenile’s disappearance has led to charges being filed against Jernigan for statutory rape, child molestation and aggravated child molestation, according to the Greensboro Police Department.

The investigation is still ongoing and may lead to other charges, authorities said.

Chief Monford thanked Captain Raleigh Callaway and his investigative team for a job well done.
