Several Lake Country basketball players received all-region awards
The 2018-19 season was a strong one for Lake Country’s basketball teams.
Morgan County’s boys and girls teams, Greene County’s boys and Lake Oconee Academy’s girls are playing into the postseason. With that type of success, postseason honors are bound to be doled out to those programs. That was the case this past weekend when those teams’ respective region coaches met up to determine their all-region teams.
From Morgan County, Alec Woodard and Tyrin Lawrence earned Co-Region Player of the Year honors for Region 8-AAA. Another senior, Stevin Greene, received an all-region team selection. For the Morgan girls team, seniors Miranda Powell and Lou Reid, along with junior Tamia Benford, made the all-region team.
Greene County’s C’Darius Kelley and D.J. Wright each received all-region selections to the Region 7-A team. Jae’quon Robbins and Justin Mallory were named to the honorable mention list for the region.
LOA’s girls had Destiny McClendon make the all-region first team. Kirsten Reese was named to the all-region second team while Kelli Stevens and Te’Amber Gilbert received honorable mentions. LOA’s boys team had three players represented on the Region 7-A lists. Bryson Jackson was an all-region team selection while Jackson Cown and Devin Phenix were both on the honorable mention list.
All-region selections for Nathanael Greene Academy’s teams and Greene County’s girls were not known by press time.
Congratulations to all of the Lake Country athletes who represented their schools on this year’s all-region squads
