Madison Artists Guild Gallery (MAGallery) is pleased to introduce Georgia artist Jodie Hutchens to the community with the opening of her intensely personal show titled Search Me & Know My Heart. The public is invited for light refreshments and an opportunity to visit with Ms. Hutchens on Friday, Sept. 10 from 5-7 p.m. at the Gallery. The exhibition will be on display from Sept. 3 through Oct. 16, and all works are available for purchase.

Leaving behind a quarter-century career in television design and animation, Ms. Hutchens now embraces a new creative life within the fine arts. With a career that spanned over two decades at CNN, her artistic focus evolved from graphic design to art direction, and she presided over projects that became signatures of many noteworthy CNN programs.

While serving as a design director at CNN, Jodie pursued post-baccalaureate studies in Fine Art at Georgia State University. The part-time studies produced a life-changing experience for her, which led to full-time studies at Kennesaw State. After her studies, her body of work largely focused on interiors, shaped by a passion for architecture and interiors and delivered through a loose brushstroke. Jodie’s current body of work has migrated from representational compositions to broadly personal yet abstract themes and is born of newly acquired skills and mediums. Her choice of subject matter is diverse – freed Texas slaves (from the Library of Congress archives), vintage bathers, landscapes, dancers, florals – and her works carry equally alluring titles – “Standing in a Pink Cave”, “Modesty”, “Afraid of Heights”, “Warm Dawn”, “Chain Reaction”. Viewers have willingly pulled into the passion and story of each piece.

Search Me & Know My Heart may be seen in person at MAGallery from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesdays through Saturdays now through Oct. 16. Viewers may also go to the Gallery’s online store to view and purchase works in the exhibition - https://themadisonartistsguild.org/shop. MAGallery is located at 125 W. Jefferson Street in Madison.
